After 26 incredible years, Joanne Keefe is retiring from the Suzuki Strings Program at the Community Music School (CMS) of 精东影业. She will continue teaching traditional violin lessons at CMS, maintaining her musical connection with the community.

A highly accomplished musician, Keefe holds a master's degree in Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance (cum laude) from Lawrence University Conservatory. Her musical training included long-term Suzuki Teacher Training with William Starr and studies with renowned musicians John Kendall and Calvin Wiersma. An active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, she has been a dedicated advocate for music education throughout her career.

"Joanne has been an integral part of our Suzuki Strings Program for over a quarter-century," said Nicole Springer, CMS Director. "Her dedicated work has profoundly impacted generations of students and been crucial to the program's enduring success."

Keefe's time at CMS has been filled with memorable moments: leading student ensembles on trips to five states and four countries, organizing special performances and co-authoring 鈥淛azz Songs for the Student Violinist.鈥� She was director of the Suzuki Ensemble for several years and also served as conductor for the CMS String Ensemble.

She wants to express heartfelt gratitude to the amazing Suzuki faculty members who have been her colleagues and friends: Susan McDonald, Graham Woodland, Ingrid Popp, Patricia Gitto, Tara Santiago and Matt Pankratz.

"I have cherished working with my students and being part of their musical journeys," Keefe reflected. "Watching students grow as musicians and individuals has been a great source of joy."

With her deep commitment to music education, she remains dedicated to nurturing young talent, ensuring that her legacy of musical inspiration continues through her continued teaching at CMS.
